How Gearkeep works

Five steps, from catalogue to closed loan. This is how Gearkeep works in the running application.

1. Step 01

   Find the item or kit

   Open the catalogue of shared equipment and kits and read the availability calendar to see which dates are free.

2. Step 02

   Reserve the slot

   Book the item or the whole kit for a date range. The reservation holds the item and sets the due-back date.

3. Step 03

   Check out to a named person

   At handout, the item is checked out against a named individual and its condition is recorded on the reservation.

4. Step 04

   Track custody while it is out

   The custody chain shows who has what, since when, and when it is due back. Overdue items are flagged and reminders are sent automatically.

5. Step 05

   Return, or log loss and damage

   On return, condition notes are recorded again and the loan closes. Anything lost or damaged is logged against the same reservation record.
